Goals

1)     Increase fruit and vegetable intake among high school seniors

2)     Increase nutrition tracking through the use of technology

3)     Reduce the risk of obesity by increasing nutrition knowledge

4)     Provide more personal freedom by teaching them simple snacks they can make with fruits and vegetables

Objectives

This nutrition program is designed for high school seniors in the Kent County area and will take place over a 6-week period. The objective of this program will be to get these seniors to include more fruits and vegetables into their daily lives.

  • Process Objectives: This program will focus on lecture and discussions on fruits and vegetables, showing proper ways to track their nutrition intake, and cooking courses to show students how to safely make great meals from fruits and vegetables.
  • Impact Objectives:
    • Learning: The learning objectives of this program will be to teach the students why it is important to include fruits and vegetables in their diet, how to make sure they are getting the right amount, and how to effectively prepare meals that include them.
    • Behavioral: The behavioral objectives of this program will to have students not only begin to include more fruits and vegetables in their diets, but also to begin cooking their own meals and tracking their nutrition intake.
    • Environmental: The environmental goal will be to have them rise above the effects of peer pressure and choose healthy foods over indulging in processed foods for a majority of their time when with friends. Another goal will be to have them bring the positive influence of a healthy diet into their household and ask their parents to prepare more fruits and vegetables with their meals.
  • Outcome Objectives: The outcome objective of this program is to teach students not only why they should be eating healthy, but how to. This program will work to set them up on fending for themselves when they leave home and teach them skills that they can pass to their future families.
