Research Methods Talk: Introduction to Confirmatory Factor Analysis

September 10 @ 11:15 am - 12:30 pm

Presenter: Eric R. Schuler (Sr. Quantitative/Computational Research Methodologist, CTRL)

This workshop will cover the basics of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Specifically, what a CFA is, when to use it, how to set-up the model for different types of data and interpret the results using R. We will be talking more conceptually about the analyses rather than the code.

Important Notes: While we will be talking through some R code, it will not be necessary to have your laptop with you/R-Studio installed. We will be focusing more conceptually rather than running the code.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Explain what a Confirmatory Factor Analysis is.

2. Discuss when to use a Confirmatory Factor Analysis.

3. Recognize how to set-up the theoretical model for a Confirmatory Factor Analysis.

4. Interpret the results of a Confirmatory Factor Analysis.
