ADVANCE AU’s Spring Symposium on Gender & Race in STEM

April 11 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This half-day workshop will provide faculty, staff, and students an opportunity to consider pathways to promotion and leadership in the fields of natural, mathematical, and social sciences. Sessions will examine the intersection of gender and race as they relate to mentorship and career growth. The workshop will feature a special guest keynote from Dr. Dawn Kiyoe Culpepper, the Director of University of Maryland’s ADVANCE program and a specialist in faculty development and translational research.

The symposium will also feature interactive table talks on topics relevant to advancing one’s career and leadership, a spotlight on one of AU’s many compelling interdisciplinary research projects (please submit your proposal in the registration below), and a panel on mentorship with current leaders and participants of ADVANCE AU’s inaugural Faculty Peer Mentorship Cohorts.

Please join us for this excellent opportunity to connect with your peers across the university. Registration and selection of the sessions that you will be attending is requested for an accurate attendance, but walk-ins are welcome. Finally, a Zoom link will be sent ahead of time to give community members an opportunity to join us virtually. We look forward to your contribution to these important conversations.
