No Dogs in Space is a podcast about the history of music. I listened to a five episode mini-series-in the history of punk bands season- focused on The Dead Kennedys. In each episode, the hosts thoroughly guide listeners through a band’s members, influences, creation, releases, musical relevance, dissolution, and impact.
The goal of my supplementary project is to compare the socio-political landscape of the 70s(which created The Dead Kennedys) to that of the 2020s and contrast the respective bands produced by those times. My analysis will be adding to the podcast by offering a contemporary synopsis and reference for the information given about the formulative factors of protest punk. My analasyis intends to make the story of The Dead Kennedys- which, if nothing else, had passion- applicable and provacative in modern cultural thought.
