This issue of The CTRL Beat features articles on crucial teaching, learning, and research topics including space and positionality for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander faculty and students, anti-racist environments in academia and their impact on students and instructors, as well as advice from the 2023 Teaching Award recipients. Classroom technology and student-centered teaching approaches are also discussed through pieces addressing artificial intelligence in the classroom, engaging with student insights on current events, and the accessibility and benefits of open-source research software.
