One of the most impactful areas of open-source neuroscience has been the sharing of 3D printed designs. We’ve seen firsthand how valuable this is – our own collection of 3D printed objects has been one of the most accessed pages on OpenBehavior over the past four years.

The repository include designs for video setups (e.g. camera holders), specialized parts for ephys such as commutators, parts for making and using syringe pumps, mazes, “nosepokes,” reward receptacles – the list goes on! Every design in our collection has been validated, and in some cases refined, by Kevin Chavez Lopez from the Laubach Lab at American University, so they’re ready for use in your lab. Check out the full collection here: https://github.com/OpenBehavior

We stumbled upon another fantastic resource in preparing last week’s post on Ghostipy: Caleb Camere‘s lab has a GitHub repository packed with useful designs. They’ve got reward and response ports specifically designed for use on mazes, parts for making and using mazes, a treadmill for head-fixed mice, and microdrives for electrical recordings. It’s a goldmine of inspiration! Check it out: https://github.com/kemerelab
