Time: 2:00 PM – 3:15 PM
Location: Hall of Science 103
Presenter: Eric Doolittle (University Chaplain & Director | Kay Spiritual Life Center)
Session Description:
Our sustained commitment to the vocation of education is often tied to a deeper sense of values and beliefs. Borrowing from the writings of Parker Palmer and 20 years of mindfulness as a tool for vocational exploration, in this session, University Chaplain Rev. Eric Doolittle creates a space and time to reflect on why we do what we do.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand mindfulness techniques as tools from mental and spiritual well-being, especially the listening circle technique from the Center for Courage and Renewal
- Apply the listening circle technique in personal reflection on the personal values and beliefs that motivate a calling to education as a vocation
- Based on the experience, evaluate the potential of future courses on mindfulness practices for faculty and student wellbeing

I’d love to know what part of this program is pulling people in. Is it the overall topic, Parker Palmer’s writing on education, exploring vocation, or something else?
