“Maruja Mallo’s Heads of Women: A Pictorial Response to Racial Inequalities in Latin America” is the culmination of a year of research on the work of artist Maruja Mallo and the socio-cultural circumstances related to the creation of her series of Heads.
Master’s Capstone Project submitted to the Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences of American University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Masters of Arts in Art History. Chair: Dr. Nika Elder; Reader: Dr. Andrea Pearson. 2021, American University, Washington DC.
This project has been awarded the 2021 Broude and Garrard Prize in Feminist Art History.
