Behavior Apparatus
This page features hardware and software tools useful for collecting behavioral data. Here you’ll find quite a variety of projects to build or supplement behavior rigs with components which elicit a behavior ranging from customizable visual or auditory stimuli to syringe pump designs for delivering rewards to fully automated platforms for running a complete behavioral study. You’ll find some overlap with other categories, and some projects may appear as fully developed rigs, but since they’re open source, their sub components can be implemented in a variety of ways for existing systems! There are projects for several model organisms including rats, mice, NHPs, humans, c. elegans, drosophila, and even bees! Behavior Rigs includes mostly complete platforms. Behavioral Tasks includes novel or fully automated tasks. Integrated Systems includes closed-loop platforms for behavior collection and analysis, and in some cases integration with neural data recording and analysis. Reward Delivery includes projects specific to administering liquid or food reward either as a standalone project or a component of another project. Stimuli includes projects which can produce stimuli which elicit a behavioral response.
For projects that are relevant to a specific kind of behavioral study (e.g. decision making or motor learning), species (e.g. mouse or bee), or neurological model (e.g. schizophrenia or Parkinson’s), use the search bar to find projects by tag!
