Session Description:
Are you looking to broaden your horizons beyond teaching and research and gain new skills within your faculty position? Learn how your colleagues have pursued advanced degrees in totally new fields, temporarily worked for federal agencies and international organizations, pivoted to administration, and more. Panelists will discuss what motivated them to branch out, how doing so broadened their career prospects, their challenges and successes, and how their outside experience has enriched and informed their work at AU.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify how the skills they have honed through their faculty positions can be applied to different roles within and outside academia.
- Describe how pursuing career activities beyond teaching and research can enable them to pursue new passions, develop new skills, and access new career opportunities.
