Session Description:
In this session, presenters will offer a snapshot of common student uses of generative AI tools; these insights will be drawn both from the Office of Academic Integrity’s experience and from current research. While we’ll offer details about misuse, our focus will be to describe the trends in ways that help faculty understand student motivations and needs, so that they can provide more specific guidance about responsible use of generative AI tools. In the session, we’ll aim to spark a discussion about how faculty can articulate meaningful guidance derived from this research.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify current trends in student use and misuse of generative AI at AU.
- Describe insights from current research into common student uses of generative AI.
- Develop strategies and approaches for articulating guidelines for responsible AI use based on these insights.
